The control room in the 1970s, an engineer at the Neve console.

Broken Arrow is a holistic creative retreatin the Northern
California redwoods, where the trees are tall,
the gear is ready, the pool is
warm, and the alpacas are soft.

find your space, take your time

Built by Neil Young in the 1970s on over 200 acres of ranchland, the historic recording studio has been thoroughly modernized, with vintage and state-of-the-
art equipment serviced top-to-bottom, knob-to-node, all fully functioning with a dedicated engineer to support whatever idea rides in on a whiff of warm dirt. There are private bedrooms and a well-
stocked kitchen, an iconic bunkhouse with an outdoor stage, and
miles of meadows and trails where your group can expand and contract. Collaborate under the perfect posture of a redwood or take a solo trip to sit with a banana slug for as long as it takes him to slide across his chosen path (approximately 4–8 hours)

Great art can come from anywhere.

Here, your process is supported from a place of balance and care,
on open land tended by kind people who know how to host.

You’ll have the privacy and space to experiment, with enough structure and technical support to keep your project moving. Whether you arrive with a full vision or none at all, Broken Arrow Studio is
a liminal space full of creative possibility, ready to welcome
you as you are.

make your music

The equipment curation at Broken Arrow Studio blends the texture of classic recording techniques with the speed and flexibility of contemporary technology. Using accessible, bespoke software, vintage gems from the original studio’s unique past can interface seamlessly with the most agile sonic equipment from a new era of digital innovation.

With roughly 150 individual pieces of gear spread over three rooms, our collection of creative tools is constantly growing and alchemizing. From a vintage Neve 8078 console and 2” analog tape, to a wall of boutique synths, to a nine-foot Steinway grand blessed by the hands of some of the world’s most iconic musicians… the studio is stocked with the kind of inventory that lets an artist go from tracking a full band on tape to sound-designing on a modular synth without ever needing to leave the property.
